We give thanks that we has this opportunity.
KK: For someone who is unfamiliar with your work, how would you describe your sound?
Yavo: Multi-tempoed vibe. It's hard to articulate it because I do not fit into a genre.
KK: Who would you credit with getting you started in music:
Yavo: Mi Madre, she was a recording artist herself and she has a lot of music that she has written but hasn't had the chance to get back to record it. Because of that, she supports me the most, even though she didn't like it. After realizing that it came to me as easy as it did for her, she came around. She has been supporting me ever since. Her favorite line is, "The right person needs to hear you!"
KK: Who are some of your influences and why?
Yavo: Out Kast, D'Angelo, and Ryan Leslie. Out Kast, y'all already know why. I don't think I need to go over that. D'Angelo, the soulful structure to his music to where you hear the musical influences of the past, mixed with his own melodic creativity. It's Dope As Hell! If you don't know, YOU HAVE NO SOUL! Ryan Leslie, when I think of what I do as far as producing, you cant get no higher then Ryan Leslie. Like myself, he plays multiple instruments. You can put him in a studio with multiple instruments and he will come back with something that never duplicated.
KK: Where do you gain motivation to do music?
Yavo: In many case, in the best and worst times of my life. Like everyone has good and bad days and the have and outlet. When I'm making beats, I have been able to understand that they come from a certain place, I call it "The Audio Soul".
KK: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
Yavo: Prince, That shit would be funky!
KK: What motivates you to keep pushing in times when you feel like giving up?
Yavo: My girlfriend and all the people that tell me no matter what, keep going.
KK: What are your thoughts on mainstream music today?
Yavo: If you can afford, you can do it. Have a gimmick, promote, you have to have time, and a little bit of motivation and you can make. It's not really about talent anymore. It's a popularity contest.
KK: If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound , which song would it be?
Yavo: Savage! Off my "30 days of Winter" mixtape currently available on Spinrilla.
KK: What are you currently working on?
Yavo: Just dropped my album " The Journey" so make sure y'all go get that. I also have a few shows coming up, one in particular, This is a house show is on March 7th here in Columbus, GA. I also have a lot of collabs and beats coming out, as well as merchandise for shows.
KK: Do you have anything you would like your audience to know?
Yavo: Whatever you do, JUST KEEP GOING. No matter what you have going on, believe in yourself and there's nothing you cant do. Write the vision, make it plan, and GO GET IT.
KK: Where can they find you?
Yavo: IG, YouTube, AppleMusic
KK: Yavo, we give thanks to you for stopping by Kween's Keepers and letting us get to know you better. Y'all make sure y'all go and support him on his journey.
